CASE STUDY – KITCHEN ISLAND BENCHES

More and more I receive feedback from buyers preferring more bench space and storage in kitchens.

The floorplan shows an example of a 1-bed apartment 64 sqm internally including balcony, finished with a kitchenette/galley kitchen with no island bench.

The photos show a custom made eat-in kitchen island bench with storage and table, plus a custom made study nook installed next to the kitchen. Cost approx $6000. Also included are photos of some more custom made kitchen island benches from $3500.

This apartment rents for $430 per week in Penrith and is worth approx $480,000. Does the island bench help gain higher rent, yes I think this apartment would have leased for $410 per week, or would have taken longer to lease at $430 per week. Plus the upgrades make for a happier tenant wanting to stay longer. Gaining a premium sales price is also supported by these upgrades, leaving nothing more for the buyer to do than move in.  If anyone has feedback on whether they prefer a kitchen island bench or not, or a study nook, and anything else in an apartment, such as pantry and linen cupboards, please email me david@morton.com.au, text or call 0409 663 535.
