In a powerful show of community care, the Morton Penrith team recently partnered with Foodbank NSW & ACT for a corporate volunteer day that combined teamwork, compassion, and a shared commitment to tackling food insecurity.
Held at Foodbank’s warehouse in Glendenning, the event saw Morton staff step away from their desks and into the heart of Foodbank’s operations, where they helped sort, pack, and prepare essential food hampers for families doing it tough across Western Sydney. Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, working with charities, schools, and community groups to distribute millions of meals each year to those in need.
The Morton volunteers spent the day assembling emergency relief boxes, checking expiry dates, and organising pantry staples—ensuring that every package met Foodbank’s high standards for quality and care. The hands-on experience offered a behind-the-scenes look at the scale and impact of Foodbank’s work, and the vital role volunteers play in keeping the shelves stocked and the hampers flowing.
For Penrith Office Leader Belinda Martin, the day was both eye-opening and inspiring. “You hear about food insecurity, but seeing the volume of need and the incredible work Foodbank does to meet it – it really hits home,” they said.
Foodbank’s corporate volunteering program is designed to engage teams in meaningful, practical support while raising awareness about food insecurity in Australia. With over 2 million households experiencing food insecurity in the past year, the need for volunteers and donations has never been greater.
Morton’s involvement reflects the company’s broader commitment to giving back to the communities they serve. “We’re proud to support Foodbank and their mission to ensure no one goes hungry,” said Morton’s Marketing & Innovations Manager Sarah Fowell. “It’s important to us that we contribute in ways that make a real difference”.
The collaboration also highlighted the power of corporate volunteering to foster team spirit and social impact. By dedicating their time and energy, the Morton Penrith team helped deliver hope and nourishment to families facing hardship.
