The final weeks of the year are when we take the time to celebrate and reflect with family, friends, and colleagues. So firstly, Happy Christmas! Secondly, despite it being a hectic twelve months, what a year it has been… There were ups and downs, challenges, and sweet moments of success; and let’s not forget, lots of achievements and results that as a team we need to be proud of.
But I wanted to leave you with a different message.
As the year draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the nature of success, and what good leadership looks like. I’ve been doing a lot of reading and research in this area personally, as I watch Morton grow and expand to serve all our local communities.
As a part of that, I’ve been using an app called “MasterClass”, which has inspirational and insightful content from pioneers and thought leaders from around the world. I just finished a masterclass led by Bill Clinton which focussed on leadership. It was great. He talks about the power of optimism and how, to be a great leader, you must have optimism about the future and what can be created.
This is something I am taking to heart, and as I reflect on the successes and challenges of 2022, and our hopes for 2023, I challenged everyone at Morton to reflect on this too.
After all. Before you can have results, you need a team. Before you have a team, you need culture and before you have culture, you need values. This year has been about a shift in leadership approach for us all.
When I look across Morton, I see superb examples of leadership and team. It is inspiring. This is what we are most proud of in 2022. Respect, Courage, Fun, Harmony, Commitment and Trust are our core values and this year we started the journey of living these. We have seen people give voice, a willingness to speak up and say what needs to be said and we have seen all of us take stock of behaviour and move to a place of better.
So, to close for the year, I’d like to acknowledge the diligence, determination, creativity and teamwork of everyone at Morton in 2022. We have again proved that by working together we can deliver great outcomes for our clients. My thanks also to all our clients. Thank you for trusting Morton to help achieve your property goals.
Enjoy the holiday break. Our team will be taking some time off between 23rd December and 9th January, but measures are in place to ensure that if you have any questions, issues or concerns Morton will always be ready and able to help.
