I don’t think there is anything I can say this week another than, it’s tough. Bloody tough. For everyone. I’ve been in business for over a quarter of a decade, I thought I’d seen it all, but obviously nothing like this. This is big and it’s tough on every single individual in our community. The question we’re all asking is what are we going to do….?
So, I’ll tell you, our valued clients, the same thing I have told our valued team. We’re going to keep going. That’s what we’re going to do. I say that knowing it’s going to be tough and it’s going to require some tough decisions for our business, our team and inevitably our clients.
Like the virus itself the social and economic impacts that will come as a result of efforts to protect our community are going to be indiscriminate. It’s clear our vendors, buyers, landlords and tenants will feel some pain.
I’m incredibly conscious that in our profession we specialise in helping people to find a home. And right now, perhaps more than ever before, our homes are our sanctuary.
So, I know that our team of Property Managers and Sales Agents have an important role to play as well all endure the uncertain months ahead.
Our role is to support our clients to make informed decisions and to facilitate compassionate, reasoned and realistic discussions about their homes and their property management in the short-term so they can emerge from this nightmare as unscathed as possible.
As I said in my blog last week, we can make this work, we just might have to do some things differently.
The most important place to start is by talking and listening because every circumstance is going to be unique. The one thing we will all have in common is that in some way we are all going to have to make compromises. I’ve had those hard conversations with our team already this week and I know in the days and weeks to come the team will be having equally hard conversations with clients too.
Our aim is to work together with our clients talking openly and honestly in order to find a way to get through this.
So please don’t hesitate to call. Whilst I’m sick of hearing the word ‘unprecedented’ I acknowledge it is the right word for our times and so we are ready to do everything we can to help each of you feel secure in your homes and with your investment.
Finally, I want to end on a positive note and draw attention to the Morton Sales team. Just last week they were announced as the National Sales Team of the Year for 2019 by the Real Estate Institute of Australia. Fantastic recognition of their extraordinary work ethic and commitment to their colleagues and clients.
